And here I thought that I hadn't made much improvement since 2008. I'm kind of blown away at the moment! XD
I'm so proud of myself!
This "draw it again" challange has really showed me that all my hard work with my art has payed off!
Not only do I see a difference in anatomy, colours and shading, but also in composition and "life" in the drawing itself.
I've also gotten a bit better at backgrounds, even though I'm still working on that, haha! XD
When I drew "The Sea of Dream" back in 2008 I was very proud of it. That's why I chose that one to draw again. It's always easier to redraw an illustration that you never put much work into. And as I said, I really wanted to challange myself with this!
I'm still very much in love with the giraffe/Lapras hybrid and the green elephant king!
I pushed myself to my limit and I'm very pleased with myself at the moment, haha Edit: Semifinal? Oh my... O.O Thank you so much! I'm very honored!
I also find it interesting that so many seem to like the older version better, haha! I kind of knew it was coming, because it's quite usual in these sort of things. I guess that in the end it's a lot about style.
My style in 2008 were very mainstream, and my biggest artistic influences at that time were Naruto and Prince of Tennis (That I know a LOT of people enjoy). It's a simple style that I know that many can take to heart. ^^
Though that wasn't really the style I wanted. I knew in my heart that I wanted something different, and more my own...
So I started experimenting with style. Looked at a lot of illustrators that I liked, and now, 4 years later....
I have finally started to like my style. It's a style like this that I wanted in 2008 but just couldn't do properly then.
Something a bit more unique and that feels more like me.
Thank you for your comments! ^^
