When Europe goes into war... and AVENGERS! Again..

Journal Entry: Fri May 25, 2012, 3:13 AM
Soon everything will turn into chaos, the battle drums will beat, angry words will be thrown... and russian grannies will sing.

What's going on?

EUROVISION of course!
The second semi-final was yesterday, and the Swedish entry; Loreen, made me very proud! She's amazing, and for the first time in like, forever, I'm very proud of our representative!
Her singing was better in the Swedish election though. The microphones didn't sound as good in Eurovision (it's kept blowing and shit).
If you haven't heard her yet, see the video below:

... Also, I've seen the Avengers for a second time! XD
It was almost better than the first time, and now... EVERYTHING IS STEVE/TONY (superhusbands) AND NOTHING HURTS!
It's weird, because I was never interested in this couple (mostly because I didn't know what kind of relationship they had in the comic), but now it's my current fandom obsession. XD

It's something very beautiful with a person who know nothing of todays world, and a person who's on the very peak of technology and society. I could talk more about this couple, but I'm at work so I really shouldn't! :XD
The Avengers is awesome and has become of of my favorite movies all time I think. If I had the money (I'm poor as fuck right now), I would see the movie in the cinema again and again! *crazy*

I'm spending the weekend with Emma over at :iconluna-jms: and :iconlaiochan:'s place, so don't expect me to be active this upcoming days ;)
Take care, watch Eurovision on saturday (vote Sweden dammit! *dork*) and have a good time!
Gabbi over and out!

I know this is late and all, but WHOOOH SWEDEN. I didn't actually vote for anybody but I was rooting for Sweden from the get-go. Them and the grannies. But that was an amazing landslide victory! I watched the whole thing in London with my nan, and she wasn't very impressed by any of them, including Loreen, but oh well.

WE FUCKING WON! XD I was so happy, and for the first time I think we actually deserved it! (even though I liked some of the other songs in the competition as well).
Your nan sound like a though lady to please ;) haha!

:D I'm glad you're happy! And also that your country can AFFORD to hold Eurovision... I don't think we could, or a lot of the EU right now. :( Then again, I'm reasonable sure the UK hasn't been in it to win it for a VERY long time. :XD: I did like some of the other songs, especially Iceland - I was surprised that they didn't do better. And my nan... yeah, she's a bit tough to please. She thought some of the songs were perfectly okay, and others perfectly' the spirit of Eurovision), but she found most of them quite forgettable. Nothing more special than what she'd hear on the radio if she put it on and didn't pay much attention, you know? I can see where she's coming from with that, though I found a lot of catchy bits in there.

Yeah we can afford it, probably more than some other countries in europe right now, though people here in Sweden still complain that we don't have the money.

I liked your song this year! The singer is famous right? He had an amazing voice, so I have no idea why people didn't vote on him. It's beyond my understanding.

I thought Turkey was hilarious! XD It wasn't that good, but they singer + dancers were so goofy and cute that I couldn't help but love them! And they made a fucking human boat!

I was quite worried for Greece when they did well with the first few votes!

As I understand it he's fairly famous... in his generation. I'd certainly never heard of him until a year or so ago; the only Englebert Humperdinck I knew (and to be fair, it's a VERY distinctive name) was a German 19th-century composer! So I was rather confused when I saw a poster saying he was coming to Cardiff for a show, since I thought he'd been dead quite a long time. ^^; He does have a good voice and the song was nice, but I think that it wasn't his best performance and he suffered from being at the start of the show; by the end, everyone had forgotten him.

Turkey was hilarious. I rather liked Romania's entry (Zaleilalei?) too. Norway's was quite catchy and I'm surprised it came last. And I was amazed the Ukrainian entry did so well, I didn't like that much. Oh well! Onwards to next year.

Yeah, I think the fact that it was very plain and simple didn't work out for him, especially with all the grand acts afterwards. I know Loreen said she tried to cut hers down to being simple, but hers was striking whereas his was ...plain.

Oh wow, that's not nice. Weren't the songs written by the same team? And I can definitely see where your friends were coming from; one of my friends in Spain liveblogged the semifinals, and said, "Norway's is another Eric Saade. Only not so good." While the song was okay, the performance wasn't anything special. I fact, all I remember are the colours from the lights. ^^; Perhaps going for the same type of thing two years in a row didn't help either; it certainly didn't help Jedward.

Ahhhh, I'll stick to watching it on the telly. I was lucky to even be able to watch it, since I was at my nan's - I don't have a TV at university! I was invited to a Eurovision party, but it sounded like it was going to get very, very drunk.

Haha! Confusion deluxe! XD
I think he fell on his performance, it wasn't that funny to look at. I belive the performance is just as important as the song in eurovision.
But yeah, being in the top of the list of performers is never good either. As you said, people tend to forget about the people in the beginning.

I find some joy in the fact that Norway came last (yes I'm a horrible person XD), mainly because Norway talked badly about Loreen a few days before the contest, and claimed that they would win. And they where also like "Um yeah, we won two years ago... when did you win last Sweden?".
So this eurovision was a victory in so many ways! XD Haha!
Also because Tooji felt like a clone of Eric Saade and Danny Saucedo. He became their "love child" according to some of my friends, haha!

I'm so gonna try and get tickets for the finals here in Sweden next year! :eager:

Thank you! For the first time in like... ever, I think we deserved this win too!
Loreen is amazing!
Though I have to say that your guy from Lordi stole the show a bit! He was awesome! XD

She is! And I loved her stage show, I was sort expecting something generic with a short dress and almost naked male dancers hopping around her (I didn't watch the semi-finals and I hadn't even seen a pic of her before the final) but noooo that was so amazing.
I didn't even know Lordi would be there XDD I was glad to see him though, usually we have only embarrassing people announcing the points.
